FLUID: June 5 – July 2

Opening Reception: Thursday June 5th (7-11pm)

Exhibition Dates: June 5 – July 2, 2014

FLUID showcases the work of bi* identified photographers in celebration of WorldPride 2014.   Bi* includes those who claim, amongst other possibilities, the identities bisexual, queer, pansexual, asexual, omnisexual, two-spirit, fluid or other non-exclusively straight or non-exclusively gay identities. Artists from the United States, Germany, Argentina, Canada, and Hungary are represented.
The show asks participating artists to respond to their sense of their own sexuality.  What does it mean to be fluid?  Are identities necessarily on a spectrum, from straight to gay, or can they exist somewhere outside of that linear model? Are they transformative, in flux, moving or liquid?  Does bisexuality rupture dominant narratives, both queer and straight, and in what ways?  Is bisexuality naturally destabilizing, and what might that look like? How do individuals move in and out of identities, desires, labels and spaces? How do other intersections, for instance race, gender, class, ability, and personal history intersect with bi* or fluid identities?
